What is the Student Technology Fee?
The Student Technology Fee (Student Tech Fee) is a course materials fee that supports instructional technology enhancements across the campus.
Effective Fall, 2024, the Student Tech Fee is $50.80 per quarter for all students at all colleges and schools, including graduate students.
This course materials fee provides and supports modern technology for instruction and learning, and funds such enhancements as online tools and services, computer-based instructional labs, classroom presentation and interaction tools, staffing of computer labs for student use and other student services.
Why is the fee necessary?
The Student Tech Fee provides enhancements and services that students and faculty use on a regular basis. The budget for the Student Tech Fee is reviewed annually to ensure that services provided have a direct, positive impact on students.
The Educational Technology Advisory Committee, comprised of faculty, staff, and student representatives, reviews proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.
What services and enhancements are provided by the fee?
The Student Tech Fee supports: Canvas, Academic Advising Applications, Student Help Desk, GauchoPrint, Classrooms, Gauchocast, and Instructional Computer Labs.
Additionally, the Student Tech Fee supports the following software: iClicker, eCoach, GradeScope, SPSS, and Mathematica.
